Here at Charm City Fringe, we are always looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to join our cause. We have a number of positions coming available through 2017, including committee positions, board positions, and internship opportunities for students and recent grads.

Festival Positions

Be a part of the 2016 Charm City Fringe Festival! We will be hiring the following paid positions in the summer of 2016 for fall employment.

Venue Manager

The Charm City Fringe Venue Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the festival runs smoothly. The Venue Manager acts as the point of contact for the artists as they are assigned their venue and receive venue-specific information. They also become the liaison between the artist, the festival staff, and the venue during the week of the festival. The Venue Manager ensures that their assigned venue’s shows begin and end on-time, is friendly and courteous to artists in the space, makes certain the space is staffed and stocked at all times, and works with volunteers to provide smooth front of house operations.

This is a paid position that runs for the duration of the festival, November 5-12, 2017.

Before the Festival:

  • Meet with the Production Manager and walk through your assigned venue.

  • Attend training on festival procedures, prices, and info to know.

  • Add contact information for all pertinent Festival staff into your phone.

  • Attend Meet and Greet with Festival Artists.

  • Communicate with volunteers assigned to your venue (if possible) and provide your contact information.

After the Festival

  • Assist with the strike at your assigned venue and 1 other location.

  • Attend a wrap up meeting where we will drink beer and talk about what we learned.

Front of House

Front of house staff is employed at each of our BYOV and select Fringe-managed venues. Duties include oversight of ticket and managing button sales, assisting patrons in making the most of their festival experience. Applicants should have a firm understanding of the Fringe mission and be able to learn the festival program. Customer service experience and being comfortable interacting directly with festival patrons is highly desirable. Front of house staff must speak in front of an audience. Experience running or overseeing box office and concessions operations is highly desirable.

This is a paid position that runs for the duration of the festival, November 8-12, 2017.

We would love to have you volunteer with us! The fringe volunteer has the opportunity to wear many hats, and we're always looking for skilled and passionate people. During events, we need your help most in box office and concessions duties, although there are plenty of areas to help. If you have any questions, please fill out the form on our volunteer page, or email us at volunteer@charmcityfringe.com.

Year-Round Openings


The Charm City Fringe organization seeks a reliable and experienced bookkeeper to track the organization’s incomes and expenses. The position requires the creation of financial reports, filing financial transactions, experience with Quickbooks™, account reconciliation, and a knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate should have or be working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent organizational experience. This position requires weekly to monthly check-ins with staff, and regular reports on account status.

Grants Coordinator

Entering our fifth year this 2016, we are in need of a dedicated and passionate person interested in getting in on the ground floor of our small, but quickly expanding theatre and performing arts organization. Please see below for detailed job requirements.

Bachelor's degree in communications, English, writing, or similar field, or commensurate experience. Excellent grammar and strong research skills necessary; knowledge of the fields of theatre, performing arts, and arts education is preferred. Detail-oriented with experience in proposal writing and institutional donors highly preferred. Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment, possibly taking on several projects at once under tight deadlines. Ability to identify and develop a diversified network of funding organizations. Prepare grant proposals, beginning by performing research on both CCF’s mission, programs, goals, and financial needs as well as those of potential funding sources. Must also keep careful records to track and follow up on proposals.
